Who is eligible for services?

The licensing regulations below, which were written by consensus groups of Mental Health Professionals and consumers answers this question.

Licensing Regulations 2.2.4 - Assessment and treatment services for adults who reside in the Community Mental Health Center service area to include, but not be limited to services for:

  • Individuals who meet the eligibility criteria for Community Support
  • Individuals discharged from psychiatric inpatient treatment
  • Persons who are being assessed for or have been diagnosed with a co-occurring mental health disorder and have substance abuse or dependence.

Also, Licensing Regulation 2.2.2 - Crisis intervention and stabilization services for adults who reside in the designated service area of the Community Mental Health Center and who don have a current behavioral healthcare provider.

What is a designated service area or catchment area?

In Rhode Island seven Community Mental Health Centers have been established to service individuals in certain designated areas. Most of the designated areas were established to provide individuals with access to a local Community Mental Health Center.

Follow this link to Community Mental Health centers. Some Mental Health Centers have initial intake number to contact to discuss any request for services; those that do not, clients can call the Mental Health Centers 24 hour emergency service number for services.
