As of January 1, 2006, only Certified Alcohol Server Training Programs are considered to be in compliance with RI General Laws 3-7-6.1. Following is a list of alcohol server training programs that have been certified by the Department of Mental Health, Retardation and Hospitals. Certification will be in effect until end of the posted certification period (unless revoked).
Programs certified by the Department of Mental Health, Retardation and Hospitals (updated May 14, 2009)
Other Regional and National Programs Certified for Rhode Island
The Department expects to certify additional programs in the near future. Please visit the MHRH website at www.mhrh.ri.gov or the Department of Business Regulation’s website at www.dbr.state.ri.us for updates to the current list of Certified Alcohol Server Training Programs.
Also, please be aware that RI General Laws require certain individuals to successfully complete an alcohol server training program. If you completed a training program on or before December 31, 2005, your training certificate was recognized as valid for up to three years from the date of certification, but no later than December 31, 2008. Upon renewal of your certification, you must successfully complete a training program provided by one of the above-listed Certified Alcohol Server Training Programs.
